The image is a bit distorted - Typical to Chan trees is the off-center flow. The Chinese characters and the name seal help create a loop as if energy flows up the roots - out through the branches - down the characters - and back to the roots. Some Chan art shows the flow moving away from the tree - although the loop effect is more common.
