Chinese "Chan" art is similar to Japanese "Zen" meditational art. It acts to inspire the viewer expanding the imagination beyond the soft painted understatement of the artist. Regarding Impressions - Sometimes some works just create a unique mood or feeling - the Chan "Zen" seems more consuming and empowering.
